Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger

A heat exchanger transfers heat from one medium to another. It can be a solution for recovering or salvaging that wasted heat in the waste gases and improving efficiencies.  Some may refer to it as a heat recovery or gas cooling technology.

The Way It Works

Hot exhaust air from a process can represent valuable energy that could be recovered and used to reduce your utility bills.  Often, the process exhaust gas temperature may need to be decreased or increased to properly match the requirements of downstream air pollution control equipment.  For instance, gas leaving an oven at 200ºF would have to be reduced to about 100ºF to be treated by some forms of adsorption or to be treated by most biological systems.

There are times when temperature reduction without heat recovery is required or when high particulate loads or other factors will steer the decision to use direct cooling without a heat exchanger.  Two ways this can be done is with dilution gas or evaporative cooling.  Dustex can help with either of these approaches based on what is best for your operation.

Design Features

Dustex designs both a tubular force-convective and a u-tube radiant-convective air-to-air heat exchanger.  Tubular forced-convective heat exchangers can be provided in multi-pass configurations allowing for process heat recovery.  Our heat exchangers can be designed for inlet temperatures up to 1200°F and handle even the most abrasive particulate laden gases.
